Neligh Library Home

This blog serves as a journal starting in June of 2006 when I moved back to Nebraska with my three young children. Starting over with a new career in a new place can be overwhelming but I have focused my energy on the renovation of this beautiful building that will someday be a home for my family. The process is liberating and therapeutic. Since most of my friends and family are located around the world and are not here to watch, this blog will serve as a window to the journey.

New Ceilings!

The ceilings were in such bad shape we decided to just drywall over them. Losing some height certainly wasn't an issue. It's amazing how much better the kitchen and master bedroon spaces look already.

Another Comparison

Here are 3 shots of the same space to see the progress. I'm so sick of mint green dust. Can't wait to cover it up with primer and clean the floors for sanding!

Update

Progress has been slow lately but I have been doing some work behind the scenes; lining up an HVAC contractor, an electrician, and getting quotes for the kitchen. After the new year we should see some big changes. Most of the paint scraping is FINALLY done and we'll start framing in the powder room and master bedroom spaces. The rooms have been framed downstairs but there's lots of plumbing to do in the bathroom. I can't wait to see things cleaned up and coming together.
