Neligh Library Home

This blog serves as a journal starting in June of 2006 when I moved back to Nebraska with my three young children. Starting over with a new career in a new place can be overwhelming but I have focused my energy on the renovation of this beautiful building that will someday be a home for my family. The process is liberating and therapeutic. Since most of my friends and family are located around the world and are not here to watch, this blog will serve as a window to the journey.

Odds and Ends Upstairs

We've been spending a lot of time on the detail work upstairs to finish it up. The kitchen countertops were installed and like in any typical home, they're already a gathering place for anything that needs to be laid down.

I finished painting the entryway and love the way it looks....something like it did alomst 100 years ago. I traced the old stencil patterns we found and recreated them in this space. That took some time. Especially at 14 ft. up!

We also added crown molding in the living room. It really adds a finished look to the space. This weekend we're trying to finish my bathroom. We already have the first coats of paint on. After another coat we'll install my radiant heat wires and tiles. Can't wait for my bare feet to feel the warm floor!
