Neligh Library Home

This blog serves as a journal starting in June of 2006 when I moved back to Nebraska with my three young children. Starting over with a new career in a new place can be overwhelming but I have focused my energy on the renovation of this beautiful building that will someday be a home for my family. The process is liberating and therapeutic. Since most of my friends and family are located around the world and are not here to watch, this blog will serve as a window to the journey.

More Basement Work

The kids and some friends helped to tear out a wall in the basement. They sure enjoy the messy, destructive work. Hopefully not too much longer before we begin putting things back together! Unfortunately, with the school year fast approaching, we won't have as much time to work. Though it still makes for good weekend therapy.

Just a couple photos to see the progress!

Floor Scraping

As if I didn't have enough scraping to do on the walls, I've also spent a great deal of time scraping the floor. We found the glue under the tar paper was water soluble so after soaking a section with wet towels each night I spent the next morning scraping the gooey mess. I got the last of it done just in time for the 4th of July. The wood floors are all exposed and ready for sanding though we'll probably wait until we've finished the ceiling and walls.
